Las Vegas exists in the middle of a desert. As such, it seems to have a fascination with water and one can find decorative fountains, man-made ponds and all manner of H2O featured as prominently as the celebrated superstars who grace the theaters and stages. Here are just a few:

  1. The Bellagio Fountains on the strip are on everyone’s must-see list. They are symbolic of the romance of Las Vegas and a cherished institution with visitors and locals alike.
  2. Fall of Atlantis at Caesar’s Palace – This dramatic, magical fountain in the Forum Shops transforms into a talking animatronic show about the legendary fall of Atlantis with visual effects that include fire, water and talking mythical beings.
  3. Mystic Falls at Sam’s Town also employs animatronic animals but the real action is the interplay of the 50,000 gallons of water that shoot up to 40 feet in the air against a colorful laser show. The ever-changing graphics, projected onto a faux rock formation, tell the story of the development of the frontier.
  4. Lake of Dreams with its 40-foot waterfall at the Wynn is beautiful, relaxing and looks like a perfect setting in nature. At night, the lake comes alive with over 4,000 colorful lights, spectacular holographics and puppetry.
  5. At Miracle Mile, there is a fountain worth seeing with lighting effects and eruptions five stories high, color changing fog, bursts of light and dramatic, original soundtracks. There is also an interesting water feature south of the main fountain that features a pond where is ‘rains’ on schedule daily. Droplets appear to be hitting the water, lightning flashes and thunder rolls. Then, just as suddenly, the storm passes, much like life.
