The Piano Man is Back
Billy Joel hasn’t appeared as a headliner in Las Vegas for a few years and Sin City is happy to welcome him back, even if it is only for a one-night performance. June 7, 2014, everyone will be lined up at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, tickets tightly clutched in hand, to listen to the fabulous Piano Man. After all, who else has sold over 150 million records, holds six Grammies and the rare Grammy Legend Award. He is also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. With 33 Top 40 hits over his career, no one is surprised.
This year mark;s Billy Joel’s 50th year as a stellar performer, and his shows sell out fast so you may want to jump on some tickets before it’s too late. In typical Billy Joel style, he chit chats with the audience, wows them with old favorites like “Pressure,” “Only the Good Die Young” and “Uptown Girl” and, as he always does, shares his fame with his well-deserving band. Carl Fischer and Mark Rivera, amazing trumpet and sax players, are a perfect accompaniment. Billy Joel has certainly come a long way since he was the opening act for the Doobie Brothers, but it hasn’t gone to his head.
Get your voice in tune because you know you will be singing along. Everyone does because at a Billy Joel concert you simply can’t help it.
