The San Gennaro Feast
While it’s great to be Italian, you don’t have to be to have a spectacular time at the 35th Annual San Gennaro Feast. The Feast originated as a one-day religious commemoration in September 1926 when immigrants in New York City gathered to continue a tradition from Italy.
The event is so popular that it’s now held twice a year in Vegas’ Little Italy. From May 7 to 11 and again on Sept. 9 to 14, you can bring the whole family and enjoy live music, amusement rides and games, pony rides and a petting zoo for the kiddies, eating contests, a beer & wine garden and lots of arts and crafts booths. The San Gennaro Feast has a lot to offer for the entire family including a giant fireworks display at the close of the Feast on Sunday night. This is a popular event with attendance this year expected to be over 80,000 and something you don’t want to miss.Wednesday’s music lineup includes Sam Riddle, The Fab and Love Shack. Whip It, Déjà Vu and The Patty Janura Band provides Thursday’s entertainment.
The Friday lineup will be Frankie Moreno and his band headlining in the evening along with earlier appearances by The Gregg Peterson Band, The Fab and The Tony Sacca Band.
The weekend lineup of entertainment is huge with some Saturday performers also performing again on Sunday. The Saturday lineup is The 3 Cards, Las Vegas Day School, Silver Dolls Dancers and Team U Shock, Musicology, Las Vegas Young Entertainer, Tribute to Shania Twain, John Acosta as Barry Gibb, The Tony Sacca Band, the Sam Riddle Band and Tribute to the Temptations.
Sunday presents great acts all day until the close of the Feast, such as Corrie Sachs as Reba McEntire, Adam Tucker as Tim McGraw, MJ Live, and Yellow Brick Road. This is also the day of the meatball and cannoli eating contests.
The San Gennaro Feast will close out with a big fireworks display and the event’s final act, Zowie Bowie.
One of the pleasures of the Feast is the great food offered by many different ethnic vendors. You know there will be plenty of delicious Italian dishes for sale such as pastas, eggplant parm, fried ravioli, sausage and peppers, pizza, custom calzone and great cannoli for your eating pleasure.
