As of March 16th, 2013, marijuana is only legal in Nevada for medical purposes under the Nevada Medical Marijuana Program so if you’re intent on a chemically-induced high, stick with the tried and true alcohol-based drinks as long as you’re over age 21. Many clubs have invented exotic house specialties and some of the bartenders are as much fun to watch as the shows! Just remember to drink responsibly and don’t drive! – And… there are other ways of getting high – literally!

1. Helicopter tours – There are a number of exciting helicopter tours offered, from the Grand Canyon to Hoover Dam to beautiful sunset and evening tours over the city, offering a unique view of the strip. Some even offer package deals, including picnic lunches and boat rides down the Colorado River.
2. The Paris Hotel features an elevator ride to an observation deck near the top of the Eiffel Tower. The Stratosphere has a lounge and thrill rides at the top along with Top of the World restaurant, which revolves in 90-minute rotations. Both offer birds-eye, 360◦ views of the valley as do many of the high-rise hotels. In fact, you might be as high as you want to be right in your hotel room – Book one with a view!
3. Ferris wheel – The ‘High Roller’ at 550 feet, is the world’s tallest Ferris wheel – and would have been taller if the Federal Aviation Administration not intervened due to it’s proximity to McCarran Airport. With 28 spherical, glass-enclosed ‘cabins’ holding up to 40 people each, you can ‘get high’ with friends on the 30 – minute trip. Now open, it’s behind the Linq, a new outdoor dining, shopping and entertainment district.
4. Rock Climbing – The Red Rock Climbing Center, about 15 minutes from the strip, offers an indoor climbing gym for all ages. They have day passes and gear rental as well as professional and knowledgeable staff. Children’s and corporate team-building programs are also available. They also have an outdoor guide service if you want to climb REAL rocks
5. Hot air balloon ride – There are many hot air balloon companies in Las Vegas offering a range of tours, from peaceful sunrise flights to champagne flights. Many, like the helicopter tours, offer extras, including weddings!

In short, there are a number of ways to ‘get high’ in Las Vegas that don’t involve ingesting or inhaling chemicals of any kind; be kind to your body and get your ‘high’ from the spectacular beauty of the glittering lights downtown and red canyons surrounding this oasis in the desert. And it will be nice to go home without a hangover or an arrest record.
