The Smith Center – Can You Say Culture?
The Smith Center was developed for the community to bring a world-class performing arts venue that would present the best of the best on Broadway and world renowned musicians in the music industry today to all the people in Las Vegas. Their mission statement “To establish a high quality performing arts center that is embraced by the community and recognized as a vital force by supporting artistic excellence, education, and inspiration for all.” Inspired by all of the construction of the new Downtown Las Vegas, they wanted to unite the residents of our iconic town and support and stimulate local artists.
Upcoming shows for August include: Ghost the Musical is appearing Saturday August 12th thru Sunday August 17th.; Sister’s School Catechism: God Never Takes A Vacation! Aug. 22-24th. World-Class Concerts like Clint Holmes “Duets” Aug.1,2, & 3rd. ; The Composers Showcase of Las Vegas Aug. 6th, and much more including some matinees.
Symphony Park is where The Smith Center is located and it will brighten and expand your horizons through music and art. Even if you don’t want to see a show, explore the 5 acre premises and grab lunch or listen to some jazz.
They also have a whole other side, performing arts education! With several partners to help fulfill the hearts and minds of adults and children alike. Their partners in helping them to make all this possible are a wide variety from the Clark County School District, Las Vegas Philharmonic, to National High School Musical Theater Awards, from the Nevada Ballet Theatre to the Nevada Arts Council. Bringing education through events and workshops with student matinee performances for everyone to enjoy.
