The Nevada Taxi Authority regulates taxi service and is responsible for setting the fares and issuing medallions. Service to and from the airport is provided by over ten taxi companies.

Credit cards are not accepted by some taxi services. Please inform the driver if you intend to use one. A $2 surcharge is added onto fares which originate at the airport.Taxis are not allowed to accept more than 5 passengers, and that includes children and infants.

Terminal 1

Taxis wait outside the terminal at exits 1 through 4, east of the baggage claim area. Airport personnel will provide assistance when needed.

Terminal 3

Taxis are accessed from Level Zero. To serve domestic travelers, there are 20 loading positions on the West side of the building. For international travelers, there are 10 loading positions on the East side. Airport personnel can provide assistance when needed.

Taxis are also available at the McCarran Rent-A-Car Center. The blue and white Rent-A-Car shuttle transports customers on the three mile ride to the Center and depart approximately every five minutes. Pick up from Terminal 1 is at Ground Level outside doors 10 and 11, at the center median. Pick up from Terminal 3 is on Level Zero. Shuttles are located outside the West side doors 51-54 and East doors 55-58.

The meters in the taxis can be confusing so the rates are broken down for you below.

When you get in the taxi, the $3.30 will pop up on the meter and if it is at the airport the $1.80 will be added. After the taxi has traveled the 1/13th of a mile the meter will increase at $2.60 per additional mile. If the meter senses that the taxi is moving at a speed of less than 8-12 mph, it will add a charge of $0.20 every 24 seconds which is the equivalent of $30.00 per hour waiting time. As long as the taxi is moving at a rate of over 12 mph, the fare is calculated at the actual distance.
