So Ya Wanna Be In Pictures?
Who said Hollywood was the movie capital of the world? If you ever had a yen to look for stardom then Las Vegas may be the place you want to come because not one but three movies are being filmed here as well as more in the works.
“Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” starring the hilarious Kevin James is being filmed at the Wynn. You will remember the first film, “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” released in 2009 which had James hilariously zipping around the mall on his Segway to save it from the crooks who had taken it over. The new movie also stars David Henrie and Neal McDonough and is about an art heist at the mall. Filming started on April 17 and is expected to run for about eight weeks.
A punk roadie movie is currently being shot and will be the first feature film from Lola Pictures in cooperation with Verisimilitude. Lola Pictures is planning to shoot another film locally in the fall. The one currently being filmed and, as yet untitled, stars Dakota Fanning, Evan Rachel Wood and John Bernthal in a movie about self-discovery as a girl in the 1980’s tours with a punk band.
Also in the fall, Downtown Films, owner of Lola Pictures, is planning a shoot of “Dulcinea,” which has signed on Nicholas Cage to star as a Las Vegas performer. They have also bought the rights to a romance thriller called “Frank & Lola,” scheduled to be filmed later in the year.
Eli Roth and Nicholas Lopez have combined their writing talents with Vegas’ own Jessica Chandler in a new ghost/thriller type movie “Drowned” scheduled to begin shooting April 28. Eli Roth certainly doesn’t let the dust settle on him. His latest film, “The Green Inferno,” is scheduled for release on September 5 and is one of those hanging on to the person in the next theater seat type of movies. The casting director for Drowned, John Jackson, is in town looking for local people to cast in over 30 speaking rolls, whether professional actors or rank amateurs. It is a plus if they are people who hang out around Lake Mead. If you are interested, submit a current snapshot of yourself to: drowned.casting@gmail.com. Also include your height, weight, eye & hair color, and D.O.B. Make sure your contact information is included (email & phone number).
