There are plenty of people who would tell you that having aliens in Nevada would not come as much of a surprise. After all, everything else seems to be here. Maybe it’s the bright neon lights or perhaps the comped drinks, but eventually everyone ends up here one time or another. Why would aliens be any different? Area 51 is famous the world over and yes, has always been hush-hush and yes, you can take a tour. Adventure Photo Tours offers a tour you might find fun, and you don’t even have to wear a hat made of aluminum foil.

According to them, you start off your conspiracy theory trip in a lux SUV to the airport where you will see the six JANET unmarked airliners that fly workers in and out of Area 51 up by Groom Lake. Then you head out toward Area 51 through some of the most alien looking and unusual landscape you will ever see. No wonder they picked this place. It probably felt like home. At the edge of the dry lake, you will see native petroglyphs which resemble aliens and explore the dry lake area where the most recent UFO sightings have taken place.

Heading on up Route 375, better known as the Extraterrestrial Highway, you come to Rachel, Nevada, home to Little A’le’ Inn, and site of the film “Independence Day.” They carry all sorts of alien souvenirs and information about Area 51 and welcome earthlings. After visiting the black mailbox, where the UFO hunters gather to share news, and drive past the weird looking Joshua trees, you arrive at the perimeter of Area 51. No, you can’t enter. The area is carefully guarded and there are listening and detection devices all over. It’s still great fun and gives you an eerie feeling that something is not quite right.

Pick up time for the tour is about 7 a.m. and you return around 5 p.m. Unlimited water and snacks are provided and it operates daily for parties of four or more. So, have a great time and who knows? Maybe you’ll spot one of those illusive aliens from outer space.
