Las Vegas is a town where it’s easy to spend a whole lot of money in a little amount of time. Beyond the obvious hits to that bank account like gambling and cocktails, the dinners can cost a pretty penny and those famous Vegas shows (think Blue Man Group or Penn & Teller) can run into the hundreds of dollars for decent seats.

Fortunately there are also a few attractions in Las Vegas that won’t cost you even one thin dime to enjoy. The downside? For the most part they’re only going to entertain you for about five minutes. But hey, you can’t beat that price – and at least the “show” we’re talking about today is nice and kid-friendly!

If you find yourself strolling down the Las Vegas Strip looking for a fun way to spend a few minutes, look no farther than the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. No, don’t bother going inside, even though this is one of the nicer casinos on the Vegas Strip. You’re here for the fountains! The Fountains of Bellagio Show, to be precise.

Every half hour after 3 PM the giant pool out in front of the Bellagio puts on a magical show as dozens of powerful fountains send huge jets of water hundreds of feet into the air in patterns closely choreographed to a comprehensive music set list. After eight PM, the fountain show runs every quarter hour, and after the sun has set bright multicolored lights are added to the vibrant tableau.

The best part? You could spend all afternoon and evening, or you could stop by at a different time each day, and not hear the same song twice. The song order switches daily, and is even augmented with holiday music during the winter months. You might be thinking “Great, a big fountain – that’s worth going out of our way to see?” Yes. It is. Remember: this is Las Vegas; nothing is done if it ain’t done BIG!
