Beach Club Do’s and Don’ts
Beach Club parties have become all the rage in Vegas, and especially in the summer months these events rise to the foreground, with many visitors coming to town specifically for the pool parties. With loud music blaring and water splashing, these events can be a lot of fun and a main staple of a true Vegas weekend. But there are many considerations to keep in mind when attending a pool party or beach club. Here are some do’s and do not’s:
DO wear sunscreen. You wouldn’t believe how many people forget that a pool party implies that they will be in the sun for multiple hours at a time. And reapply after each dunk into the pool!
DO NOT wear athletic shorts or jeans. Whether guy or girl, having improper clothing will prevent you from being allowed into many of the venues. Guys are consistently turned away for having basketball shorts instead of swim trunks. Girls with jeans may have a tough time getting in as well.
DO stay hydrated. The Vegas sun is vicious and many people get caught up in the fun of the day and forget to drink water throughout the day. One bottle of water an hour is probably the bare minimum. The last thing you want is to get dehydrated and feel crummy for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
DO NOT mess around with your phone and wallet too much around the pool. Countless people lose their wallets in or around the pool area, or drop their phone into the water. With many people walking around the slippery walkways around the pool, there is often much bumping into and around other people. Bring a daypack to keep your valuables and personal effects and keep them way off to the side, near chairs perhaps. Most day clubs have locker or coat check service.
DO have fun! Pool parties are awesome! But save some gas in the tank for your evening time activities. Don’t over exert and spoil your night!
DO NOT forget to check ticket prices and compare. You don’t want to spend $50+ on entry into a pool party when your own hotel has a comparable beach club and entry is free with your stay. It used to be that only a few of the hotels offered pool party events during weekend daytime, such as Hard Rock’s with Rehab. But these days, almost every hotel has a beach club. Also, some pools will have major DJ’s in town and jack up the prices, while others will have great discounts. Some pools are evening beginning to have night pool events, such as Mandalay Bay’s Eclipse. Just don’t forget to shop around and be an informed pool-goer!
