Jazz and cabaret lovers hate to settle for second best, and they won’t have to at the Cabaret Jazz Club at The Smith Center. This is an actual club venue in art deco style with cozy tables and food and drink service, so you can enjoy a meal or appetizers while listening to some of the most amazing jazz and cabaret artists in the business. This 258-seat club is small enough to be intimate but large enough to feel like a real jazz club or cabaret.

The cabaret jazz menu offers items as fruit & fromage, Italian antipasto and a hot menu, which includes garlic-crusted chicken with Cajun corn fritters and St. Louis style barbecued ribs. The food and service is good and a little something to eat and drink during the show just adds to an enjoyable experience.

Duke Ellington and Thelonious Monk may be gone but Cabaret Jazz has a great lineup of performers. Coming July 4-6 will be Clint Holmes (Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year) singing music by Cole Porter and Paul Simon. Ashton Zyer, pianist and talented singer with a jazzy bent is appearing July 12 in a concert (with special guest artists) to benefit Shade Tree of Las Vegas, which shelters women who are victims of violence and their pets. Las Vegas’ favorite, Tony Sacca will be performing July 19 with his original Vegas songs and tributes to The Four Seasons, Doo Wop and more. On July 26, Cuba Gooding, Sr. and Soul on Fire, the 12-piece mega-band, present their original material and a new release of “Everybody Plays the Fool.”

Sept. 13 has 10-time Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval scheduled, playing his original compositions and a wonderful tribute to Dizzy Gillespie. A few days later on Sept. 19, George Kahumoku, Jr., Ledward Kaapana and Uncle Richard Ho’opi’I, pros in slack key guitar. Their Hawaiian music is so beautiful, you’ll want to grab a plane ticket and head to the Islands.

The Smith Center is THE place to go in Las Vegas for style, culture, glam and great entertainment. Tickets prices vary but you will be surprised at how inexpensive they are considering the great entertainment. Please check the link for show times and dates.
