Downtown Brew Festival
Beginning in 2009, Motley Brews started a series of what they call “beer-centric” festivals and events. Originally, it was designed as a local event… a way for the beer lovers of Las Vegas to have some fun while sampling great beer. But these events are so popular that they keep raising the bar. The result is that large donations are made to local non profit organizations, and the word is spreading to include beer lovers from all over.
This year’s date is September 20th. The Downtown Brew Festival is now including local talent, so there is music and entertainment as well as beer and food…all of which has been created by the local community here in Las Vegas. There are several different types of admission to choose from. If you want to beat the crowds, you can buy admission to come in an hour before the general admission beer tasting session begins. You get all the benefits of general admission as well, including the new or specialty beers, unlimited sampling of the craft beers (there are over 150 of them), and live entertainment. Food can be purchased from the lineup of local food trucks.
VIP admission gives you access to the Brewers Lounge, where you will be invited to sample beer cocktails, local chef creations that have been inspired by beer, and private restroom facilities. There also are a number of free giveaways.
If you are a designated driver chosen to transport your beer-drinking friends, you can buy a special admission ticket that gives you access to all aspects of the festival, with the exception of beer. Water will be available, and you may purchase soft drinks at some of the food trucks. If your group purchased the early entry tickets, you may join them as well.
Folks who attended in 2013 and 2012 seem to have genuinely enjoyed the huge beer selection and the variety of foods that were offered. All seem to have agreed that it was a clean and well organized event. There is a lovely lawn amphitheater area that is wonderful for sipping and listening!
Tickets went on sale on 7/2/2014. They can still be purchased at the venue for a slightly higher price. The Brewers Lounge will be celebrating the cuisine of Chef Christian Dolias (Cutthroat Culinary) with a four course meal. American Cream and Rusty Maples will be entertaining all evening. Come taste the flavors of Las Vegas!
