Gridiron Greats
All you football fans may want to mark June 6 and 7 on your calendar for the Gridiron Greats Hall of Fame Induction Dinner honoring and benefitting pioneer NFL players. The Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund was established in 2009 to provide assistance and financial aid to retired football players who do not have pension benefits or disability assistance, suffer from Alzheimer’s, dementia and other diseases or need help due to hardship following their careers.
The great Mike Ditka, Chairman of Gridiron Greats, will be there, along with Kyle Turley and “Mean Joe” Green. Inductees for 2014 include Hugh McElhenny, Dave Wilcox, Tom Flores, Conrad Dobler, John Arnett, David Humm, Brent Jones and Sylvia Mackey for the Woman of the Year Award due to her diligent efforts and advocacy to provide needed assistance to retired players and their families. Paul Hornung and Mike Lucci will also be named as Men of the Year in recognition of their superb fundraising efforts in support of the Gridiron Greats.
The dinner is being held on Friday, June 6 at Silverton Casino Hotel. Tickets are $200 per person. On Saturday, June 7, an autograph show promised to be “star studded” is being held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be a great opportunity to meet and get the autograph of some of your favorite football players.
This event becomes larger every year. This year it is being sponsored by the Silverton Casino Las Vegas, the Oakland Raiders, the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to see some of your favorite football players, snag autographs and donate to a great cause.
