Slotzilla
Downtown Las Vegas has a brand new thrill. The up and coming zipline called Slotzilla is set to commence in the spring of 2014. For twenty bucks you can ride the zipline, many stories overhead the famous Fremont Street above the crowds of people. Many of them may be taking your photo along the way.
The ride itself commences from a gigantic larger-than-life slot machine with two neon signs of showgirls. The higher zipline shoots the rider over a hundred feet high in the opposite direction, and costs a tad bit more than the lower ride. The rider is strapped on “Superman” style and will figuratively fly overhead the downtown crowd. The launch of this ride and attraction has been the source of much frustration and buzz, as the surrounding chatter of its impending debut has been long and drawn out and the spectacle has been delayed a few times.
The monstrous ride will align the brave riders high in the air, standing within the walls of the “World’s Largest Slot Machine,” where they can gaze down onto the streets, past Trader Bill’s and all the way over to the Plaza in the horizon.
To complete the trifecta, go on both the lower and the higher ziplines, and then opt for the slushie drink in the souvenir cup, shaped like the large slot machine Slotzilla itself. The cup itself is intended for drink, but can be used to insert coins, much in the same vein as an actual slot machine. The cup itself has a slit for just this purpose.
If you are heading downtown to wander around, grab some food, and see the street performers, consider hopping onto the Slotzilla. It is yet another new piece in the continuous reinvention of downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street. It has been long awaited and anticipated. Be one of the first to enjoy the thrill.
