Besides Wayne Newton and Caesars Palace, the “Pawn Stars” are perhaps the best known thing to happen to Las Vegas in quite some time.

Who are they you say? The Pawn Stars are the fab four – “Old Man,” “Hog,” “Rick Harrison” and “Chumlee” – all part of the fun that is the realty TV show called “Pawn Stars” that airs on the History Channel.

The shop officially called Gold & Silver Pawn Shop is located in Downtown Las Vegas and continues to be a draw for tourists and even locals who have become part of the Pawn Stars cult. The show centers on a wide variety of people who walk into the pawn shop and try to make a deal with any of the four for whatever “great find” they are hocking. Items have ranged from jewelry to a Jimi Hendrix poster to old cars that blow your mind from other decades.

Once you get through the line that snakes around the non-descript building, you will be shown the door to get through by a bouncer-like employee. The shop is much smaller in life than it is on TV and there aren’t nearly as many artifacts that one would expect. The items are mostly jewelry bling in two cases along each side of the shop, a few posters and paintings hanging on the wall. As you walk toward the back of the store, there is a variety of tourist items that you can buy like “Pawn Stars” T-shirts, mugs, and other related souvenirs with the TV stars’ mugs on all. In a roped off section there are some of the transportation collectibles that have been shown on the show in the past like an electric bike with a hefty price tag on it.

The guys aren’t always there according to those in the know, but do show up when the TV crew is onsite to film the place during the weekdays.

It’s a fun venue to visit and to be able to say you saw where the popular TV show is filmed. Everyone has to have a t-shirt with the Old Man’s headshot.
